About GreenGeeks Hosting
Since then it’s grown to host over 300,000 websites and serve over 35,000 customers while making a name for itself as an industry-leading green hosting provider. GreenGeeks has recently become a global sponsor of WordCamp, the official conferences for the WordPress community. They will be sponsoring over 50 camps and meetups this year.
GreenGeeks was founded in 2006, which makes its environmental focus all the more impressive.
When I first took my courses in college involving web development, we got told about the different variety of web hosting platforms. The one that got recommended the most to me was GreenGeeks.
Step 1: Head over to GreenGeeks main site
Once you are on the main page, click on the WordPress Hosting navigation. On the following screen, click on Get Started Now.
Step 2: Register a domain name
A domain name is the name of your website. So it is wise if you take some time to think about a domain name that is unique. An example of a domain name is wordatom.com (which is the domain name of the site you are reading now).
After you have completed Step 1, you will be brought to a section where you will be required to register a domain name. Here, insert a domain name under the section that says I Need To Register a Domain and followed by clicking Check Availability. Like this:
And if you already have a domain name and want to use it, you can insert the domain name in the section that says I Want to Use An Existing Domain.
Step 3: Fill up your account information
After you are done with Step 2, you will be brought to another screen where you will need to input your account information with GreenGeeks. This process here is similar like creating any other account online.
Step 4: Configure your WordPress hosting plan
Right below the Account Information section, you will see Package Information. Here, the important thing that you will need to do is select an Account Plan and select a Server Location.
For the Account Plan, we advise you to select at least the yearly plan. This is because the yearly plan and above does not come with a $15 setup fee and it’s eligible for a 60 percent off.
Step 5: Enter your payment information
Finally, enter your payment information and click Create Account & Get Started.
Step 6: Order Confirmation
After completing Step 5, you will receive a few emails and they are order confirmation email, account manager login details email, thank you for your payment email, new account information email, domain registration confirmation email and domain immediate verification email.
You should receive the emails mentioned above in 10 minutes time. But if it’s taking longer than that, you can contact their live chat support team which is available 24/7/365 and fill them in with this issue.
Step 7: Log in to your GreenGeeks Account Manager
Use the login details in the account manager login details email and log in to your GreenGeeks account manager. You can click on this link to take you to the GreenGeeks Account Manager log in page.
Installing WordPress
When you log into your account, you can click the cPanel Login button to open a new tab to start your WordPress journey. Scroll down on your cPanel dashboard until you see an area called “scripts:” under the Softaculous Apps Installer. There you will see WordPress, click it to be taken to another screen to see an overview of the WordPress Platform. You can also play around with a demo to get a feel for it first!

Once you hit install now, you are taken to a page to choose where you want to place it. You are also given an opportunity to name your site, come up with a brilliant description, choose a theme, choose your preferred language and set yourself a unique Username and Password to manage your content. In a matter of seconds after you touch that install button at the bottom, you’re all set up and ready to go and that’s it! Fast, easy, and simple; just like it’s supposed to be.
Because WordPress is so popular, finding help for virtually any aspect of the application is easy to come by. Forums, tutorials and more are easily accessible. For example, GreenGeeks has an ever-growing list of “How-Tos” for WordPress covering a wide scope of features.
Great content! Super high-quality! Keep it up! 🙂
